Zoiper is a free VoIP softphone which supports most VoIP features including voice, video and instant messaging. It supports multiple platforms like Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, iOS and also web browsers. Zoiper is made on core C/C++ and Assembly, which results in low memory and CPU usage even in older hardware.
Zoiper supports both SIP and IAX2 protocols and is compatible with most of the VoIP service providers and PBXs. It comes with Free and Pro licenses. Free license has some limitations and offer basic functionalities. In Pro version you can utilize tons of features like video calls, caller IDs, call forwarding, auto answer, call recordings, conference calls, voicemail, click-to-dial service for browsers and many more. Free version is limited to single account, you can explore their official website to find best option for you.
Firstly download the Zoiper installer file according to your working platform from here.
You can choose from different options like macOS, Windows, Linux, Android and iOS. We are here showing you the installation in Debian based Ubuntu Linux systems. For installation in other platforms please explore our website blogs for related articles.
After downloading the .deb file, open the Downloads folder, right click the file and select “Open With Software Install”.
This will open the software in Ubuntu’s software installer, and the new window will open like this:
Now click on the “Install” button, it will prompt you to enter the password:
Enter the user password, the installation will began now:
After the installation finishes, you can search Zoiper in menu:
Now click on it, and wow, you just installed it successfully. It will ask you to “Activate Your PRO License” or to “Continue as a Free User”, select the option of your choice.
At first time, it will ask you for your VoIP username and password details to enter. If you have your VoIP details you can enter it, if not then contact to your VoIP provider or subscribe to any regional VoIP service provider. You can also “Create Account” with some of already listed and supported VoIP providers in Zoiper available to your region.
After configuring the VoIP details, you can use Zoiper for VoIP services supported by your VoIP service provider.
You can also find classic version of Zoiper in their official website, but they are going to discontinue support to Zoiper’s classic version very soon.
